But I said, "I have laboured in vain, I have spent my strength for nothing and vanity; yet surely my cause is with the Lord, and my reward with my God" (Is 49:4).
We try our best and in spite of all our efforts, we don't see the desired results. On the other hand, we feel the situation getting worse and out of control. In such a situation, frustration, disappointment and discouragement are common human reactions.
The noble and heroic servant of the Lord in Deutero-Isaiah also had somewhat similar experience. He was frustrated and disappointed under the weight of the task; he was considering no value in all that he had done so far. Everything is useless; nothing is going to help; we are doomed to failure.
But these thoughts are not the final thoughts. The servant trusts and hopes. He believes that things will be better because God will ultimately reward.
In the face of crisis, let us not get discouraged; let us follow the instructions given to us and believe in the best!
Good day and God bless us all! ππΌπ
