"Hear, O Lord, and be gracious to me! O Lord, be my helper!
You have turned my mourning into dancing; you have taken off my sackcloth and clothed me with joy" (Ps 30:10-11).
You have turned my mourning into dancing; you have taken off my sackcloth and clothed me with joy" (Ps 30:10-11).
In the above two verses from Psalm 30, we notice two different moods. First part is a petition, a fervent prayer for help and the second part is a joyful thanksgiving. Such a combination seems very strange to us. How can one express two contradictory moods in the same breath? How is that possible?
This kind of prayer is found in many psalms and this phenomenon is called: "certainty of hearing". The psalmist is so confident that God is going to hear his prayer, that he already takes for granted that he has received what he has asked for and that is why we find the change in the mood from petition to thanksgiving.
Let us also be confident that sooner or later our God is going to hear us and help us!
Good day and God bless us all! ππΌπ₯³
