Spiritual Spark πŸ”₯
"You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbour and hate your enemy.' But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you" (Mt 5:43-44).
Love is the mark of Christianity and love of enemies is the beautiful ideal of Christianity. That is Christianity at its best and is beautifully exemplified by crucified Jesus forgiving his executioners from the cross.
This ideal is known to everyone. Even in Indian school books we study this aspect of Christianity. However the hard question before us is: is "love of enemies" only an ideal or does it show itself in reality?
Fortunately we have the examples of Gladys Staines and the family of Blessed Rani Maria forgiving the murderers of their dear ones and bearing wonderful testimonies of faith. However, unfortunately the love of enemies is not the reality for most of Christians.
Today let us look into our lives and ask ourselves: "Do I love my enemies?" If not, let us further ask ourselves: "Do I at least desire to love my enemies?"
Good day and God bless us all! πŸ™πŸΌπŸ’
