Spiritual Spark πŸ”₯
"Therefore he said he would not destroy them, had not Moses, his chosen one, stood in the breach before him, to turn away his wrath from destroying them" (Ps 106:23).
Ps 106 is a historical psalm and the above verse recalls the heroic intercessory action of Moses described in today's first reading (Ex 32:7-14). Old Testament often speaks about the wrath of God. It is considered as the punishment of God for human rebellion (grave sin) as exemplified in the sin of worshipping the golden calf.
Many people are considering the present crisis of Corona Virus as "wrath of God". We need to understand this aspect carefully. When we use such concepts without realising their theological significance, we tend to blame God and emphasize the aspect of punishment and not the aspect of mercy and love, which is the hallmark of God.
The crisis is human made and to avert it, like Moses, many dedicated selfless people (doctors, nurses, police, soldiers and others) need to stand in "the breach", in the thick of the battle to avert this crisis.
Good day and God bless us all! πŸ™πŸΌ⚔️
